APPLY POLYGEL

Polygel is a fantastic product for creating beautiful and strong nails. Polygel is a hybrid between gel and acrylic , giving it the strength of acrylic and the flexibility of gel. In this instructional blog we offer you an extra detailed step-by-step guide on how to apply and remove Polygel.

STEP 1: Nail preparation

When applying polygel, proper preparation of the nails is very important. Therefore, treat your nails as you would when applying gel polish. Where necessary, file the nails with a good nail file , gently push the cuticles back and remove the gloss layer with the file. Finally, degrease the nails by wiping away the dust with some slip solution.

STEP 2: Apply base coat

Apply Base Coat - Apply a thin layer of base coating to your nails and cure under an LED lamp for 60 seconds. B ase coating ensures that the polygel adheres better to your nails and prevents the polygel from flaking off your nails.

STEP 3/4: Polygel 'sandwiches'

Applying polygel is also called the sandwich technique, because the polygel sits between your natural nail and the nail tip like a sandwich. There are 2 methods, but we recommend the following, because you will have better distribution and the least chance of any bubbles.

METHOD 1 - see video at the bottom of the page

Push a pea-sized amount of polygel (depending on your nail size) out of the tube and gently press it onto your nail. Then take the nail tip and push it evenly over the polygel from the cuticles, allowing the polygel to shape itself along the length of the nail tip. Now place the free nail clip supplied over the tip to keep the tip properly in place.

TIP : Don't push too hard, as this can trap air or push the gel outside the tip on the sides.

METHOD 2 - see video at the bottom of the page

Take a small amount of polygel the size of a pea (depending on your own nail size) from the tube, and place it in the nail tip , you can use the multi-tool spatula for this. Dip the brush of the multi-tool in the slip solution and shape the polygel to the desired thickness and length. Make sure that you do not apply the polygel too thinly/thickly and that the polygel runs nice and thin on the cuticle side. Then place the nail tip on your nails and press gently so that it sticks well to your own nail and use the included nail clip to keep the tip in place.

STEP 5: Perfecting Polygel

Now that you have placed the tip, dip the brush in some slip solution and remove any excess polygel along the cuticle. You can now further shape the gel in the tip until you have achieved the desired thickness and length.

STEP 6/7: Cure and remove tip

Once you are happy with the shape of your nails, let the polygel harden under an LED lamp . Hold your nails under an LED lamp for about 60-120 seconds depending on the strength of the LED lamp. Then gently lift the nail tip away from your nail by gently moving back and forth. If necessary, cure again without the tip for extra adhesion.

TIP:

STEP 8: Finishing

Once the polygel has completely hardened, you can further perfect the shape of your nails with nail clippers and a file . Carefully and gradually file one side until the desired shape is achieved. Do not file too hard to avoid damaging the nail. You can possibly buff the surface with a block file as a top coat for shine will be applied in the next step.

STEP 9: Finishing touches

Finally, apply a thin layer of top coat to protect your nails and add shine. The Top Coat also needs to be hardened under the LED Lamp.

REMOVE POLYGEL

Now that you know how to apply polygel, it's also important to know how to remove it. Below you will find a step-by-step plan.

Step 1: File the top coat - Use a nail file to remove the top coat. This allows the acetone to penetrate the polygel better.

Step 2: Soak the polygel - Soak a cotton pad in pure acetone and place it on your nail. Wrap your nail in aluminum foil and let it soak for about 10-15 minutes.

Step 3: Remove the polygel - After 10-15 minutes you can remove the aluminum foil. Use the double-sided nail tool to push the soft polygel off your nails. Be gentle and don't push too hard to avoid damaging the natural nail.

Step 4: File the nail - File off any remnants of the polygel and file your nails into the desired shape.

Apply Vaseline to the cuticles in advance to protect them from the drying effect of the acetone. After the removal process, it is important to take good care of your nails with a rich cuticle oil to keep your nails in top condition.
